Oct. 5 (UPI) — An Alabama man may have broken a Guinness World Record when he completed 15 chin-ups in one minute while wearing a 100-pound pack.
Johnathan Young, 28, of Golf Shores, took to the chin-up bar Monday at the Orange Beach Fitness Center and completed 15 of the exercises in one minute while wearing the extra 100 pounds.
Evidence from Young’s attempt is now being submitted to Guinness for official certification.
The current Guinness World Record is held by Australian athlete Marcus Bondi, who managed 12 chin-ups while wearing a 100-pound pack. Bondi’s feat was matched by Massachusetts man Ron Cooper in December 2017.
Young said he is considering pursuing other Guinness World Records in weight lifting.
