Sept. 29 (UPI) — Daniel Craig will return to Broadway in the spring.

The 53-year-old actor will star with Ruth Negga in a new production of Macbeth at Lyceum Theatre in New York.

Craig and Negga will play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in the play, which will have a 15-week engagement. Performances begin March 29, 2022, with the production to officially open April 28.

Macbeth, an adaptation of the William Shakespeare play, is directed by Sam Gold. Barbara Broccoli, who produces the James Bond film franchise currently starring Craig, will serve as a producer.

Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

“Daniel is not only a great film actor but a magnificent theatre actor as well,” Broccoli said in a statement. “I am thrilled that he will be supporting the return of Broadway playing this iconic role with the exquisitely talented Ruth Negga making her Broadway debut and under the expert direction of Sam Gold.”

Craig most recently appeared on Broadway in a 2013 production of Betrayal. He previously collaborated with Gold on a 2016 Off-Broadway production of Othello.

Craig will return as James Bond in No Time to Die, his fifth and final film as the character. Broccoli said in an interview this week that she and the other producers won’t discuss Craig’s replacement until 2022.

Negga is known for playing Raina on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Tulip O’Hare on Preacher.
