Sept. 28 (UPI) — WWE Champion Big E defended his title against Bobby Lashley in a Steel Cage match on Raw.
The Steel Cage match was set into motion by general manager Adam Pearce after Big E and Lashley’s first match on Monday ended in a no contest.
Big E vs. Lashley kicked off Raw but the bout was cut short after Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander entered the ringside area and seemingly re-formed The Hurt Business with Lashley.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of Big E’s group The New Day then ran down to even the odds. The ensuing brawl spilled out into the ring, ending the match in a no contest. Pearce and a security team had to break up both groups.
The All Mighty, in the main event, assaulted Big E before both men could enter the cage. A Steel Cage match can be won by pinfall, submission or by exiting the cage by climbing over it or walking through the side door.
Lashley again received help from The Hurt Business who stopped Big E from escaping. Lashley used this opportunity to try and walk out of the side door until Woods stopped him at the last second.
The New Day brawled with The Hurt Business, leaving Big E and Lashley alone. Lashley was able to land a Spear but it wasn’t enough. Lashley was also able to survive Big E’s Big Ending.
Big E ended things after he performed a Super Big Ending from the second rope that was enough to earn the three count. Big E celebrated with his WWE Championship until he was confronted by Drew McIntyre, who pointed his sword at the champ until Raw went off the air.
Also on Raw, Hall of Famer Goldberg set his sights on Lashley, who had previously attacked his son Gage at SummerSlam in August.
Goldberg gave a remote interview and threatened to hurt Lashley for what he did to Gage.
Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte held an open challenge that was answered by Doudrop. Flair had just successfully defended her title against Alexa Bliss Sunday at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.
Doudrop put up a valiant effort against The Queen until her rival and former teammate Eva Marie entered the arena.
Doudrop became distracted and Flair quickly attacked her from behind and performed the Natural Selection to win the match. Marie started gloating, causing Flair to knock her down before exiting the ring.
Marie got on the microphone afterwards and said she would have won against Flair to become the new Raw Women’s Champion.
Marie continued to berate fans and the locker room until Shayna Baszler arrived onto the scene.
Baszler choked Marie with the Kirifuda Clutch. The Queen of Spades then stomped on Marie’s arm against the steel stairs, similar to what she did recently to Nia Jax.
Other moments form Raw included Angel Garza defeating Erik; 24/7 Champion Reggie vs. Ricochet ending in a no contest; Keith ‘Bearcat’ Lee defeating Akira Tozawa in dominant fashion; United States Champion Damian Priest successfully defending his title against Sheamus in a No Disqualifications match; Jinder Mahal, Veer and Shaknky defeating Jeff Hardy, Mansoor and Mustafa Ali; Karrion Kross defeating Jaxson Ryker; and AJ Styles defeating Raw Tag Team Champion Riddle.
