Sept. 28 (UPI) — The Good Doctor star Freddie Highmore is a married man.

The 29-year-old actor confirmed on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he married a “wonderful woman.”

“Yes, I got married,” Highmore said. “It’s funny, ever since I’ve been wearing this ring people have been asking me if I’m married. So I figured I should clarify it.”

Highmore jokingly told host Jimmy Kimmel that he won’t “jump up and down on the couch on the talk show and express my excitement that way.”

“I know you do that in America. But I’m as happy as a Brit can be and I’m married to a very wonderful woman now, so yes, I feel very happy,” he said.

Highmore said his wife is also British but did not share her name or other details.

“I just still can’t get over the terminology and the vocab, like, ‘a married man’ just sounds very old and ‘my wife’ sounds very possessive,” the star said.

“We don’t really use that yet, but we just point to the rings and be like, ‘Here, look, draw your own conclusions,'” he added.

Highmore, who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor, also discussed his character’s upcoming wedding on the show. He addressed a recent teaser for the show that appeared to show Murphy’s wedding.

“It’s probably the hardest time I’ve ever had doing press, when the teaser suggests something that’s the complete opposite of what actually goes to happen,” Highmore said.

The scene ended up being a dream sequence that appeared in The Good Doctor Season 5 premiere Monday.

“It is genuinely the whole season, which will be lovely, but yes, it was an odd one to promote,” Highmore said.

Highmore teased “twists and turns” in Season 5 in an interview on Good Morning America last week. The Good Doctor airs on ABC and co-stars Paige Spara, Hill Harper, Richard Schiff, Christina Chang and Osvaldo Benavides.
