Will Smith has admitted that he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, had extramarital affairs throughout their marriage.

He stated that their marriage was initially monogamous, but that they eventually opened it up.

Remember that their relationship was a hot topic last year after rapper August Alsina claimed he was in a relationship with Jada with Will’s permission.

Jada initially denied the allegations, but she and Will later admitted on the Red Table Talk show that there was “an entanglement” between Jada and August.

Will has now admitted in a new interview with GQ that while their marriage was initially monogamous, they decided to open it up after realizing they were both “miserable and something had to change.”

He also revealed that, while the conversation around Alsina had centred on Jada, and many people slammed her as the unfaithful one, both he and his wife had had other sexual relationships during their marriage.

He stated: “Jada had never believed in traditional marriage. Jada had family members who had an unusual relationship. As a result, she grew up in a very different way than I did.”

“There were lengthy debates about what constitutes relational perfection. What is the ideal way for a couple to interact? And for most of our relationships, we chose monogamy rather than thinking of it as the only form of relational perfection.

“We have given each other trust and freedom, believing that everyone must find their path. And marriage cannot be a prison for us.

“And I don’t recommend our path to anyone. This is not a path I would recommend to anyone. But the experiences that we’ve shared, the liberties that we’ve given one another, and the unconditional support that we’ve given one another, to me, are the highest definitions of love.”

The couple married in 1997 and has two children, Jayden and Willow.
