Veteran Ghanaian actress, Mercy Asiedu has opened up on her past life before starting her movie career. Unlike others who were willing to pursue the career, she never got into the acting business willingly.

According to the 50-year-old actress, she used to be a seamstress before she was brought into the movie scene with the help of Apostle Kwadwo Safo who introduced her, Akrobeto, and Agya Koo to a Concert Party.
Recounting her hustling days, Mercy Asiedu who is famous for her role in Kumawood’s famous movie “Asoreba” produced by Samuel Nyamekye of Miracle Films revealed that she used to be a member of a small group who normally entertains church congregations, especially during conventions.
“I was part of a small entertainment group; we usually entertain the congregation at church especially at conventions. I used to perform at church conventions” she said.
She said that Aps. Kwadwo Safo encouraged her to venture into the movie industry because whatever she was doing at the conventions was basically the same thing her colleagues, Agya Koo and Akrobeto are doing at the Concert Party.
“Agyekoo and Akrobeto to join the concert party crew at the time since that was the same thing they were also into. My Godfather encouraged us by writing a story to help us move forward in our acting career. He said one day it will come in handy,” she added.
However, she lamented on the fact that the Ghanaian culture has been misplaced, thus she and some of her colleagues are currently on a mission to bring back the Ghanaian culture and traditions that have been lost.
