Sept. 21 (UPI) — Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones lost a necklace containing his father’s ashes while scoring a touchdown at Lambeau Field and said the precious item was found the next morning.

Jones, who scored four touchdowns in Monday night’s home opener against the Detroit Lions, said he believes the football-shaped urn necklace fell off during his second-quarter touchdown catch.

“If there was any place to lose it, that’s where my dad would’ve wanted me to lose it,” Jones said of the end zone after the game. “So I know he’s smiling.”

Jones said a team trainer scoured the field early the next morning and was able to successfully locate the necklace.

The running back said he wore the necklace Monday night as a tribute to his father, Alvin Jones Sr., who died at age 56 from COVID-19 complications.

Jones said his father always attended his games, and he would make it a point to locate him in the stands for support.
