Sept. 20 (UPI) — Netflix is giving a glimpse of the new series Colin in Black & White.

The streaming service shared a teaser trailer for the limited drama series Sunday during the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Colin in Black & White explores football star Colin Kaepernick’s formative high school years and how his upbringing and early experiences led him to become an activist. Kaepernick, a biracial adoptee, grew up in a White family.

As an adult, Kaepernick played football for the San Francisco 49ers for six seasons. He has been a free agent since 2017, following controversy over him kneeling during the national anthem at NFL games as a protest against police violence.

Colin in Black & White features Jaden Michael as a young Kaepernick and Nick Offerman and Mary-Louise Parker as Kaepernick’s parents, Rick and Tessa. Kaepernick, 33, narrates the new series.

The new teaser shows Kaepernick (Michael) attending class and playing football in high school as the real-life Kaepernick narrates.

“While I was in high school, I still had a lot to learn about the way the world works,” Kaepernick narrates. “But you know what? I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.”

Netflix previously released first-look photos for the show in August.

Colin in Black & White is written by Michael Starrbury, with Ava DuVernay as director and executive producer. The series premieres Oct. 29 on Netflix.
