Founder and Leader of Glorious Word and Power Ministry International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah is a member of the New Patriotic Party and still is in the good graces of the party, Ashanti Regional Chair of the NPP has stated.
According to him, the ‘spiritual father’ of the NPP will never be thrown under the bus “but laws in Ghana must work because no one is above the law.”
Reacting to claims that the NPP has abandoned the man of God, Chairman Wontumi declared, “We have not disowned Reverend Owusu Bempah and never will. There is a difference between a political party and Ghana. There is a difference between a political party and the law, and obviously no one is above the law.”
In an interview with Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, Chairman Wontumi noted that no matter the standing of any Ghanaian, they are not an exception to the law. He believes everyone must face the full rigors of the law if they break it.
With the NPP being a party with a high regard for law and order, Chairman Wontumi indicated the party will never interfere with the law in the case involving Owusu Bempah and hopes other party members who feel invincible, will learn from this.
The head pastor of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, and three others were arrested by the police earlier in the week.
They were arrested for the “creation and circulation of multiple videos containing threats, and the brandishing of a weapon and the assault of some police personnel”.
This is according to a statement issued by the police on Sunday, September 12, 2021, and signed by its acting Director of Public Affairs, ACOP Kwesi Ofori.
The Police say they arrested the suspects “after critically analyzing the said videos and based on intelligence gathered”.
Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, has however been granted bail of GH¢200,000 with two sureties.
This comes two days after a Circuit Court in Accra denied the popular pastor and three others the request for bail.
