Ghanaian talented Songwriter, Singer and Rapper, Kofi Kinaata
Ghanaian talented Songwriter, Singer and Rapper, Kofi Kinaata, has revealed that his initial impressions about the Industry have metamorphosed over the years. He said he came into the industry some 7 years ago believing that good music was all that one needed to excel, unfortunately that is not entirely the reality.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast show on Thursday, September 16, 2020, Martin King Arthur popularly known as Kofi Kinaata pointed out that “good song plus a big pocket equals success in the music industry’’.
In other words, good music without the cash to push the song and make it popular would amount to nothing.
“You can do a good song, but if you do not promote it with the right links and contact you cannot get to where you need to be,’’ he stated.
Kofi Kinaata said research is very critical in production, but, above all “believing in oneself”, is a great asset”.
The multiple Award Winning Musician has a plethora of songs to his credit, among them are “Behind the Scenes’’, “Things Fall Apart’’, and “Illegal Fishing’’.
He also featured in some collaborations, an example is “Odo Pa”, by Castro featuring Kofi Kinaata and Baby Jet. He spoke about how much he had missed his Mentor, Castro who went missing some 7 years ago.
The Takoradi-native and Video Vixen, Janet Bandu went missing while vacationing at Ada in the Greater Accra Region, with former Black Stars’ Asamoah Gyan and a few friends.
The Songwriter from Takoradi is well noted for his Fante rap and freestyle and therefore known as the Fante Rap god. He credits his father for giving him a lot of inspiration and the liberty to be creative. Kofi Kinaata said he is also inspired by the works of positive people in the music industry.
Kofi Kinaata shares the birth Region with Ghana’s First President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Both hail from the Western Region of Ghana. Kofi Kinaata said he remained inspired, “a lot’’, by the memory of Dr. Nkrumah and the fact that he gained independence for Ghana.
Reciting the famous speech in part delivered on the Eve of Ghana’s Independence, “Ghana, your beloved country, is free forever, freedom alone is inspiring’’, he said.
“The freedom to think on your own, alone for me is an inspiration,” Kofi Kinaata pointed out.
On a lighter side, the Fante Rap Artist was quizzed on how he coped with his Lady fans having a crush on him. He smiled and said that it was very normal of fans, explaining that the fans simply show love because they love his music.
“The Ladies boost my morale, and that is just the nature of the job,’’ according to Kofi Kinaata.
He disclosed that he is shooting a video for a new song that would soon debut.
