The Government is taking steps to acquire four patrol boats that will be deployed in the four coastal regions, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah has said.
He said these boats will aid in frequent inspection at sea.
He also said the government is also acquiring a research vessel for the regular conduction of scientific fisheries research.
Mr Oppong-Nkrumah said these when the Minister of Fisheries and Aqua Culture Development Mavis Hawa Koomson addressed the press in Accra on Sunday, September 12.
These among several others are the steps being taken by Madam Hawa Koomson to ensure that Ghana’s fishery ecosystem is kept alive and productive.
“Government is also taking steps to acquire four patrol boats that will be deployed in the 4 coastal regions to aid in frequent inspection at sea as well as a research vessel for regular conduction of scientific fisheries research,” the Ofoase Ayiebi Lawmaker said.
He stressed “These among several others are the steps being taken by the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Development, Hon. @mhawakoomson to ensure that our fishery ecosystem is kept alive and productive.”
So far, the initiative covers thirteen Regions namely; Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Oti, Upper East, Upper West, Volta, Western and Western North with more regions to be onboarded soon. #MinistersPressBriefing pic.twitter.com/5tlXWJmfFW
