Ghanaian upcoming musician popularly known as Shugalord has said he’s looking forward to winning Afrobeat artiste of the year due to his hard work and perseverance in his music career.
“I wish to become the next afrobeat artist of the year sooner or later because I believe I have what it takes to get it and I will prove to Ghanaians that I’m ready to grab that award soon,” says Shugalord.
He mentioned that sometimes to get someone to sign you as an upcoming artiste is just by the grace of God.
“I think it will take God’s grace for a producer to sign on to his record label because as an upcoming artist, nobody believes in you whether or not you can make it,” he said.
Shugalord noted that the music industry is shocked with a lot of artistes and you coming up alone cannot help you go far, so sometimes as a musician or an upcoming artist, you need to work with a team. This team, according to him, would help promote your music career.
Speaking on Kingdom Drive on Accra-based Kingdom FM with Royal Baby, Shugalord advised up-and-coming musicians to not only rely on their music but rather attach themselves with skills that would support them in the industry.
According to him, aside from music, he’s a software developer and also does other business to push his music career.
“I believe the future is bright for me so I have to work hard to get to the top and probably win Afrobeat artist of the year one day,” he noted.
