Euroget De-Invest (EDI), the main turnkey contractor on the Ministry of Defence 500-bed hospital at Afari, Kumasi, has clarified some misrepresentations in a video circulating on social media.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman and CEO of Euroget, Said Deraz, the video clip produced in Twi made untrue commentary about the project.

“The video claimed that the project was completed in 2018. This is not true. Construction is still ongoing with overall progress at about 92%.

Installation of equipment is also ongoing. The MRI equipment mentioned in the video to be exposed to the weather is not even on-site now,” he said.

Mr Deraz further explained that the items shown in the video include medical gas cylinders are stored under a shed which is an appropriate location for cylinders.

“Extractor Fans and Air Handling Units (AHU) that are neatly covered with polythene sheets were shown in the video as medical equipment left to rot in the open.

The sheets were removed to capture these items in the video. Again, it should be clarified that extractor fans and air handling units are outdoor items and were properly stored.

No medical equipment has been exposed to weather,” he stated.

Me Deraz, therefore, urged the public to ignore the video clip in its entirety.
