Sept. 2 (UPI) — Lionsgate is giving a glimpse of the new film Moonfall.
The studio shared a teaser trailer for the sci-fi action film Thursday featuring Halle Berry as Jo Fowler, a NASA executive and former astronaut.
The teaser shows a mysterious force knock the Moon from its orbit around Earth and send it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. Jo (Berry) believes she has the key to save the planet, but only Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), an astronaut from her past, and K.C. Houseman (John Bradley), a conspiracy theorist, believe her.
“These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is,” an official description reads.
Moonfall is written, directed and produced by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow). Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu and Donald Sutherland co-star.
The new film opens in theaters Feb. 4.
Berry last starred in and directed the film Bruised. Wilson most recently starred in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, while Bradley is known for playing Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones.
