The National Communications Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Awudu Ishaq, says the party’s suspension of its General Secretary, Janet Nabila, was inevitable.

Mr. Ishaq on the Point Blank explained that Janet Nabila had consistently put the party in a bad light through false allegations and attempts to destabilise the party.

“There has been a lot of negative press emanating from what she does and the kinds of things she says. There has never been an instance where she talks about what the party wants to do right. It is about accusations, trying to destabilise the party’s front, creating seeds of discord. That does not amount to what I call giving reverence to the party .”

In August 28, 2021, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PNC took a decision to indefinitely suspend Nabila over gross misconduct, insubordination, and incompetence.

But she has so far denied all the allegations levelled against her, thereby rejecting the suspension.

Nabila rather alleged that the party’s Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, and their 2020 flagbearer, David Apasara embezzled funds to the tune of GHS70,000 from the party’s coffers without accountability or any justifiable reason.

However, Mr. Ishaq insisted that the allegations of embezzlement were unfounded adding that they “qualify for her to face disciplinary action.”

His comments come a day after the headquarters of the party was thrown into a state of confusion as party leaders engaged in heated exchanges during a press conference to brief Ghanaians on Janet Nabila’s suspension.

The press briefing turned ugly, as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Bala Mei Kankan, kept on interrupting the event with his interjections while Mr. Ishaq, was addressing the press.

Mei Kankan tried every means possible to defend the PNC’s suspended General Secretary.

After efforts to amicably get him out of the premises for the briefing to continue, some officials of the PNC together with the police forcibly dragged Mei Kankan out of the hall.
