The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has said he will continue to work hard to make Assin Central the stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said he has contributed in diverse ways to help champion the development of the area including building the capacity of the youth and will persist to ensure the place becomes well-developed.
Addressing NPP delegates conference at Assin Fosu on Friday, the firebrand MP said, “I have brought a lot of jobs to the constituency and will continue to support the people to make the party attractive.”
He said the NPP is determined to continue in office after 2024 and vowed to help the plans of the party to be realised.
Mr. Agyapong said the NPP administration under President Akufo-Addo, has the welfare of Ghanaians at heart and has introduced bold initiatives like the Free Senior High School policy and NABCO as well as the expansion of other programmes like School Feeding programme, Capitation Grant among others, and indicated that no party can compare itself to the NPP in terms of working to ensure that the level of hardships of the people are reduced.
He expressed his commitment towards unifying the party’s base in the constituency and said he would not support any individual who would be contesting the constituency election in order to promote peace in the constituency, saying “the party does not belong to me so I will not go and bring anybody to come to succeed me.”
Mr. Agyapong thanked the people for voting massively for the party in the 2020 elections.
The former Deputy Regional Minister, Thomas Agyei Baffour, called for unity in the party.
The Assistant Regional Secretary of NPP who doubles as the Regional Director of Youth Employment Agency, Sarah Afful, emphasised the need for members of the party to work hard towards promoting the good works of the government.
She explained that, the 2024 elections would not be easy, and added that the party would have to work hard to break the 8-year jinx.
