Much has not been seen and heard of Ghanaian singer J Derobie after he dropped his hit track “Poverty” which secured him a record deal with Mr Eazi’s Empawa Record label.
J Derobie caught the attention of Ghanaians and won a number of fans when he released the “Poverty” track in 2019.
Many knew from the onset that he was a very promising singer who was up for great things especially when he sang with a distinct refreshing voice with a blend of contemporary dancehall.

However, J Derobie has not lived up to the billing. Little progress has been seen and felt as far as his music career is concerned. Even after joining Empawa music at the same time as Nigerian singer Joeboy, J Derobie is still trying to find his footing.
Did he relax due to complacency or what?
On the back of that puzzle, a fan decided to accost J Derobie when he shared a photo to celebrate his birthday on social media. That was the first post from the singer in a long while which presupposes that he was not active on social media.
Perhaps, he wasn’t active with his music either. That was why Jamar Jargo described him as a one-time hitmaker who has failed to live up to expectations.
According to Jamar, J Derobie’s career should have been at par with Joeboy’s but the singer has failed to put in more work into his craft. Whatever that meant, J Derobie failed to respond.
