The Plant Microbial Fuel Cell Technology which involves the use of soil, soil bacteria and plants to produce electricity introduced by Gyaama Pensan Senior High/Technical School tops all other projects from various schools in the Northern Zone Renewable Energy Challenge which took place today, August 27, 2021, at Splendour Hotel, Anyinam- Santasi in Kumasi.

The students lead by Christolove Molgo Arthur and Janet Ohemaa Nkansah demonstrated the ability to use their PMFC to power an air cooler made by themselves which is capable of cooling households.
Speaking to the media, the Chemistry tutor, Mr. Frank Agyekum who is the brain behind this technology has said, their project is expected to be modified for Biosensor techniques and Wastewater treatment when the necessary resources are obtained.
He added that their Chemistry Department is currently researching the use of Hibiscus sabdariffa flowers in producing local temporary markers for schools in Ghana.
The school which is full of creative and innovative students is expected to be present at the national competition in Accra.
