In Ghana, it has been a norm in politics that the ruling government abandons projects commissioned by the outgone government to begin their own projects.

This practice has done more harm to the country’s economy since the old projects which the outgone government spent huge sums of money to complete have been abandoned in the bushes as the ruling government procure more funds to start new projects.

It is at the back of this that Lydia Forson is saying that it is very disheartening for old projects to be abandoned by the government in their quest to fulfill their own promises.

In a tweet, she lamented that some of these projects are left uncompleted and after the party leaves office, the incoming party abandons the project and waste money on new ones.

She wrote;

I will never understand why Ghanaian leaders come into power and abandon old projects to start new ones; and when they don’t complete them before leaving power, their predecessors will do the same to their projects. Why? This petty politics is costing all of us.

As many Ghanaians cry over issues facing the country, most of these problems have already been solved but due to reasons best known to government officials, the solutions are being abandoned and they turn to look for ways to solve the problem in their own way which mostly costs the nation huge sums of money, mounting pressure on the economy and retards the nation’s growth and development.
