Aug. 23 (UPI) — The live-action adventure, Cruella, will be available on Disney+ for no extra cost starting Friday.
Starring Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, the film is set in 1970s London and serves as a prequel to the 101 Dalmations franchise.
It is “about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious — and notoriously fashionable — villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil.”
The cast includes Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Mark Strong.
Craig Gillespie directed the movie from a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, based on a story by Aline Brosh McKenna, Kelly Marcel and Steve Zissis.
The film was initially released using a theatrical and pay-per-view strategy to allow as many people as possible to comfortably see it during the coronavirus pandemic.
Stone reportedly has already signed on to star in a sequel.
