Aug. 20 (UPI) — Hulu is giving a glimpse of the Pen15 animated special.
The streaming service shared a trailer for the special episode Thursday featuring Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine as teenage best friends Anna Kone and Maya Ishii-Peters.
The preview shows Anna’s dad Curtis (Taylor Nichols) take Anna (Konkle) and Maya (Erskine) on a trip to Florida, where the girls get an unflattering caricature, attempt to tan, and meet boys.
“On vacation with Curtis, Anna and Maya are introduced to new crippling insecurities. The girls try to ignore them but a mystical turn makes their self-doubt impossible to forget,” an official description reads.
The special episode, titled “Jacuzzi,” will pick up after the events of the Season 2, Part 1 finale, released in September 2020. The episode will feature both live-action and animated elements, according to Vanity Fair.
“Jacuzzi” will premiere Aug. 27.
Pen15 is created by Konkle, Erskine and Sam Zvibleman. The series takes place in the early 2000s, with Konkle and Erskine, both in their 30s, playing middle school versions of themselves.
Konkle and Erskine both welcomed their first children this year. The pair discussed the budding friendship between their children in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in June.
“I think they love each other. I’m just gonna say it,” Erskine said of her son and Konkle’s daughter.
