Aug. 20 (UPI) — A Mumbai hospital teamed up with an insurance company to break a Guinness World Record and vaccinate more than 30,000 people in one week.

Surana Sethia Hospital, in partnership with insurance company ICICI Lombard, set the Guinness record by registering 30,467 people to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations Aug. 7-14. All of the people who registered were vaccinated on the spot, the hospital said.

“As the pandemic continues to re-emerge in waves, it is most crucial to vaccinate the population,” Surana Sethia Hospital CEO Dr. Prince Surana told Mid-Day.

“The underprivileged sections of the society are in a disadvantageous position as they do not have the resources and facilities to travel long distances to get themselves and their family members inoculated. That’s why we collaborated with ICICI Lombard for this drive.”

The vaccine drive lasted for 14 days, during which 50,000 people were vaccinated for free, the hospital said.
