Aug. 18 (UPI) — Laura Prepon says she left Scientology nearly five years ago.

The 41-year-old actress confirmed in an interview with People published Tuesday that she is no longer a practicing Scientologist.

Prepon shared how the birth of her children, a daughter, 4, and a son, 16 months, with her husband, actor Ben Foster, caused her to reflect on her upbringing and “a lot of things” in her life, including Scientology.

“I’m no longer practicing Scientology,” Prepon said. “I’ve always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I’ve prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I’ve studied Chinese meridian theory.”

“I haven’t practiced Scientology in close to five years and it’s no longer a part of my life,” she added.

Prepon said she now finds solace in meditation, which she practices with her husband.

“We meditate daily and I’m really liking it, because it’s something that helps me to hear my own voice and it’s something we can do together,” the star said.

“If motherhood has taught me anything so far, it’s that something can work out for a period of time and then you move on and evolve from that,” she added. “We’re all evolving. I always see that with my kids.”

Prepon gave birth to her son in February 2020.

“Welcoming home our new bundle of love. Overwhelmed with gratitude,” she said on Instagram at the time.

Prepon reflected on motherhood and her own relationship with her mom in her book You & I, As Mothers: A Raw and Honest Guide to Motherhood, published in April 2020.

Prepon is known for playing Donna Pinciotti on That ’70s Show and Alex Vause on Orange is the New Black.
