Pure Akan is one of the few rappers or musicians in the Ghanaian music industry who is so fluent in the Twi language. His knowledge and level in the Ghanaian language is so deep that many people regard him as the protege of Ghanaian Hiplife legend Okyeame Kwame.
Apart from his deep knowledge of the Twi language, Pure Akan is also best known for his deep sense of fashion and portraying of the African culture in his songs and music videos to the rest of the world.
Speaking with Andy Dosty in an exclusive interview on the ‘Day Break Hitz’ morning show aired on Accra-based radio station Hitz FM, Pure Akan revealed his grandparents are the reasons behind his ‘deep’ Twi content.
According to the ‘Me Sika Duro’ hitmaker, his parents used to take him to the village during vacations when he was young and his grandparents used to communicate with him in a ‘typical’ Twi language.
He continued that this influenced him so much that he feels redundant speaking the English language in the house. He said the deep Twi Language listeners hear in his songs are just not for his songs but how he and his parents communicate in the house as well.
