A man, who awoke in the night to the sound of his toilet continuously flushing, was left horrified after investigating the cause.

The anonymous man, who lives in the town of Breitenfurt, near Austria’s capital Vienna, climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom to check out the mystery flusher, only to discover an extremely unwelcome guest in his toilet, causing it to continuously flush.

Lurking inside the loo, the terrified man discovered a ginormous six-foot-long snake, which had made itself more than comfortable, like something straight out of a horror movie.

Fire fighters helped free the six-foot snake
They released the reptile back into the forest

The man called the emergency services at around 1:00 am on Saturday, August 7, and firefighters rushed to his home to get rid of the Aesculapian snake.

On arrival, the fire fighters were, fortunately, able to free the snake from it’s rather unusual habitat, before releasing it back into the forest.

Lukas Derkits, a spokesperson for Modling District Fire Bridgade, told the Sun that the species of snake discovered in the toilet is native to Europe, and is in fact one of the biggest reptiles on the continent, often growing up to two metres long in size.

He went on to say that the snake likely made its way into the toilet tank through partition walls.

Bizarrely, this isn’t the first toilet snake to make headlines in Austria this summer, after a 65-year-old man was bitten on the genitals by an albino python that was lurking in his toilet bowl last month.

Walter Erhard, from the city of Graz, was taken to his local university hospital, where he received treatment for minor injuries, before later being released, according to local media.
