Tunisia President Sacks Prime Minister over violent covid19 protests

The Prime Minister of Tunisia, Hichem Mechichi, has been sacked as a result of violent protests in Tunisia over rising cases of coronavirus.

Mr Mechichi was sacked by President Kais Saied.

The President has also suspended parliament, according to local media reports.

There were reported mass protests across Tunisia on Sunday.

The protests were over the Tunisian government’s handling of coronavirus in the country.

The Covid-19 increment also recently led to Tunisia’s health minister being sacked.
