Ghana’s youth President, Twene Jonas is calling on Parliament especially Akuffo Addo to throw out a request by the Finance Ministry for a $28 million loan from the National Investment Bank (NIB) to purchase 275 vehicles for legislators in the eighth Parliament.
Deputy Finance Minister, Abena Osei Asare, on Tuesday, July 6, laid the request before the Floor of the House.
The Minister also presented a similar request for a $3.5 million car loan for members of the 8th Council of State for them to purchase vehicles.
According to Twene Jonas, the procurement of vehicles for MPs is not the need of the average Ghanaian.
To his best knowledge, the MPs are going to use the V8 cars to attend only funerals which has no benefit to the average Ghanaian, céteris paribus.
He, therefore, challenged Akufu Addo to make Ghanaians privy to other benefits of the V8 he intends to buy for the insensitive parliamentarians.
