Ho, July 16, GNA – A Ho Circuit Court has remanded into police custody three men arrested for illegal possession of handguns.
The trio, Nervis Otu Laryea, aged 33, Ebenezer Osei, 38, and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, 37, were arrested on July 6, 2021, in a Toyota Corolla saloon car by a Rapid Deployment Patrol Force team on the Kpando-Have road.
The police team found the items after a deep search and included three foreign-made pistols and 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Also found in their possession were two laptop computers and a total of 21 brand new mobile phones, each with price tags.
Police secured a remand order from a Ho Magistrate Court to aid investigations and the suspects were placed on a public identification parade and later arraigned at the Ho Circuit Court presided over by Felix Datsomor.
The Lawyer for the accused persons was not in court and so the prosecution prayed the court to remand them to assist in further investigations, adding that one of the suspects had previously jumped bail in Tema.
They are to reappear on August 17, 2021, for their pleas to be taken.
