Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has hailed the Nigerian Senate for rejecting the nomination of Lauretta Onochie, a presidential aide, as a commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Recall that during plenary on Tuesday, the upper legislative chamber stepped down the nomination of Onochie based on upholding of the Federal Character Principle.

Reacting to this development, Fayose commended the Senate for listening to Nigerians, saying it portends great hope for democracy.
He expressed optimism that the National Assembly will use the move as a platform to “subject itself more to what represents the interest of Nigerians.”
