Bosom Pyung does not understand why the President and his Vice will agree to pay their wives monthly allowances and salaries for the sake of it.
He has questioned the move just like many Ghanaians by juxtaposing it with teachers and other workers and asked whether their wives also qualify to receive monthly salaries based on their husbands’ employment.
Ghanaians have reacted with rage to the news which broke a few days ago announcing the government’s plan to pay presidential spouses including backdated allowances and salaries from 2017 to date.
Many believe it is a wrong move by the government especially when the constitution does not recognize presidential spouses and has not given them any defined role.
On the back of that development, NDC has sued the Attorney General and Abronye DC has also dragged the government before the Supreme Court. Both parties believe presidential spouses do not qualify to receive emoluments and are seeking legal redress.
Inasmuch as Bosom Pyumg’ question remains a rhetorical one, it clearly seeks to point to the disparity in the system where the top guys do think about and remain focused on their comfort and wellbeing at the expense of the impoverishment of the citizenry.
