July 5 (UPI) — Kate Middleton, Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge, was in self-isolation Monday after coming into contact with COVID-19, Kensington Palace said.

She will be self-isolating despite receiving both vaccines and testing negative for COVID-19, a spokesperson said.

Officials released a statement revealing Middleton has been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

“Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home,” the palace said, according to CNN.

The National Health Service said Middleton had face-to-face contact for about 15 minutes with a person who was positive COVID-19. Her engagements have been canceled.

The British government mandates those who have come into contact with an infected person to self-isolate for 10 days.

The self-isolation comes after the Duchess was present at Wimbledon and the Euro 2020 soccer tournament in London.

Middleton received the news that she would need to self-isolate on Friday. It is unclear who she was in contact with that tested positive for the infection.

Earlier this year British officials extended lockdown measures due to the prevalence of the Delta variant of the COVID-19.

Hong Kong suspended flights from Britain recently due to the uptick of COVID-19 cases in the union.
