Following Burna Boy’s third consecutive win in the BET Best International Act nominees, GhBase take a look at the previous winners of the prestigious award since its inception in 2011.
The BET Award for Best International Act: Africa was an award given to honour the outstanding achievements of international artists from Africa.
SO many backlashes from the public space got BET International to combine with other BET Award international acts and scraped Africa from becoming a global contested category.
In 2015, several African and UK artists criticized BET’s treatment of them, saying that their awards were presented to them in a pre-recorded segment backstage. Nigerian popstar Yemi Alade called for an end to the category.
