Abiana emerged out of nowhere to grab the Best Female Vocalist of the year at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Awards (VGMAs), the first sequel of which went down live on Friday (June 25).

Abiana’s incredible delivery on her banger Adunlei beat off stiff competition from Adina (Hear Me) Yaa Yaa (Mmusuo), Cina Soul (Die 4 U), Efe Grace (Lord Have Your Way) and Enuonyam, (Fill Me) to win the coveted plaque at the 22nd edition of the prestigious award ceremony.
After this feat, music lovers are trying out to figure out who this fast rising superstar is. Abiana started her career as a backing vocalist for musicians like Amanziba, Paapa Yankson, Pat Thomas, Akosua Agyepong, Becca, and others, before joining the Hyskuul Band, where she met Okyeame Kwame to work on his ‘Bolgatanga Girl’ project.
‘Adunlei’ marks Abiana’s debut single, after she attained mainstream success with ‘Bolgatanga Girl.’ The songstress in a previous interview with TV3 described her style as Soul Life.

She also spoke about how the hit song that her shot her to prominence, Adunlei was birthed.
“The first time that I played Adunlei to a group of people and they were like: the world has to hear this and that was like the decision, the turning point for me, so I thought it wise to come out,” the songwriter told the host.
