Recently, GHBase.Com published that Twene Jonas is angry about the government’s decision to destroy on-site galamsey equipment.

According to Twene Jonas, the burning of excavators seized by the anti-galamsey taskforce won’t solve the galamsey menace the country is facing.

“Burning down excavators which have been hugely invested in is madness and shouldn’t be encouraged in this country. Akufo Addo should use the seized excavators fix Ghana’s bad roads” he said.

And in a new development, legal practitioner Tsatsu Tsikata has added his voice to the government’s decision to destroy on-site galamsey equipment.

According to the experienced solicitor, the burning of galamsey excavators is nonsense and illegal.

“That is nonsense. That is nonsense because you don’t fight illegality with illegality. You don’t presume people guilty before you go through any process. There is no provision in any law of this country that allows government to do that”, he stated.

According to him, the position taken by government is at variance with anything he has ever taught as a law lecturer adding that the government is fighting illegality with illegality.
