The challenge of examination malpractices in Nigeria seems to have taken a new dimension as the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said that desperate ad-hoc staff connive with people to “plan armed robbery attack” in order to access its questions.
Prof. Oloyede said this while addressing newsmen at the Akanu-Ibiam International Airport, Enugu on Wednesday after touring round the South East geo-political zone to monitor the on-going JAMB examination.
He said that despite the strategic measures the JAMB put in place to checkmate exam cheats, some “people still think they are clever” and could manipulate the situation.
He however insisted that the Board was up to the task of exposing and arresting the culprits who must have to face the music.
He explained that the major examination malpractice trending in the Northern part of Nigeria was slightly different from what obtains in the south.

“So, you have cases where people will plan either with the connivance of our ad-hoc or full staff and say I was robbed, therefore the saver has been stolen or my saver has been substituted with plan by an unknown person.
“What we are saying is that whoever that becomes an obstacle to the performance of our duty, we will crush.”
