June 21 (UPI) — Police in New York used crowbars, shovels and a fishing net to rescue a soggy cat found trapped in a storm drain.
The Suffolk County Police Department said in a Facebook post that Sgt. Phil Dluginski responded alongside officers Officers Juan Echeverry and Victoria Funez to the Bay Shore Road, where a cat was reported trapped in a storm drain.
The officers used crowbars to remove the drain cover and found the cat several feet down in the water.
The group used shovels and a fishing net to scoop up the wet cat and bring it back to dry land.
“It turned out to be a lucky day for this fur baby because a nearby resident decided to give this baby a forever home,” the department said.
