Over the years, music lovers in Ghana has being experiencing the act of their musicians been accused of ‘sampling’ or ‘stealing’ other foreign musicians songs and making it their own without given the necessary credit.

And one person who has been a subject of criticism on this topic is no other person than Highlife sensational singer and the reigning Vodafone Ghana Award Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene.
Kuami Eugene since coming into the music space after participating in MTN Project Fame has been accused of sampling so many songs from other people making it his own songs without given credits to the lawful owners of the songs.
But today on Hitz FM’s ‘Day Break Hitz’ morning show, the host Andy Dosty made a ‘shocking’ revelations after he decided to play some Ghanaian hit songs that looks pretty similar to other foreign songs.
During the coarse of the show, Andy Dosty played one of the numerous hit songs from the Lynx Entertainment chief executive officer Richie Mensah titled ‘London (I Still Love You)’ but the controversy sparked when he played another song titled ‘Austin’ by Blake Shelton.
The two songs has the same lyrics and the only difference in the two songs is Blake’s own says ‘Austin’ whiles Richie’s own says ‘London’. One of the pundits on the revealed Richie Mensah sampled Blake’s song word for word without given him the necessary credits.
Fans jumped on the topic alleging that this will be the motivation or inspiration behind the numerous accusations leveled against the label’s signee Kuami Eugene on sampling other people’s songs without given credits to them because Richie was not sued by Blake Shelton back in the days.
