Accra, June 20, GNA – The Reverend Dr Kwadwo Boateng Bempah of the Holy Hill Assemblies of God Church on Sunday advised Christians to honour their fathers for them to be honoured by their children in future.
“Honour begets Honour! If you do not honour your father, your children will rebel against you. Those who honour their fathers are sowing a seed of future honour,” he said.
Rev Bempah quoted from Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour your father and mother…which is the first commandment with a promise… so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
He said when children honoured their fathers, they activated an inheritance from them and escaped curses.
“Fathers carry both blessings and curses in their mouths. Be careful not to activate curses from them by being rebellious and disobedient. Gladly and quickly, obey your father in every matter. Never insult or oppose him.”
“Even if your father is a drunkard or irresponsible, continue to honour him for your own good. No matter your level of education, affluence or social standing, your father’s curse can reduce you to nothing. Do everything to escape the curses of fathers,” he advised.
Rev Bempah said one of the ways to practically honour fathers was to constantly pray for them so they could lead their families well.
He said when fathers led well, it automatically opened up blessings and prosperity for the benefit of the whole family.
Rev Bempah also advised that children should honour their fathers with quality financial and material blessings.
“Women are not the only ones who like to be given money and gifts, fathers love them too. Do well to constantly honour your father in that regard because there are many unseen struggles he went through on your behalf. No one can outgive his or her father,” he added.
