Over the years, there seems to be a standard procedure of where personnel(s) of the Ghana Police Service can just stop a vehicle on the road just to search the occupants in it for either weapons or drugs or even both.
Lydia Forson said she was in a car with a friend when some personnel(s) of the Ghana Police Service stopped them to search them for drugs, arms and ammunition. She added she was okay with that since it has being the practice of the police over the years.
But one thing that caught her attention and still find it surprising is that, the police searched her and the friend and their bags as well but failed to either search the car or the person driving the car.
She emphasized that she was not angry or mishandled by the police, she’s more than confused because she hasn’t experience or encounter the police in this way before.
The female activist stated that she has no problem with the Ghana Police Service doing their jobs, she’s just trying to figure out the point of searching her and the friend alone without searching the driver and the car.
So I was just stopped by @GhPoliceService and asked to get out of the car to be searched for arms & ammunition. I didn’t mind if this was standard procedure. But they searched me, the other lady in the car our bags but not the driver or car? What’s this please?
Please note that I’m not upset and they didn’t mishandle me; more than anything I’m just confused because I’ve never experienced this before. I’m very ok with @GhPoliceService doing their job if it’s legal; I’m just trying to understand the point of searching only us.
