Recall, the Accra Regional Police command revealed through its communique that it still has a restraining order to prevent the conveners from hitting the streets of Accra to demonstrate.
This comes after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the protestors and nullified the restraining order which prevents them from hitting the streets of Accra to demonstrate against the ill-governance of the Akufo Addo-led government.
Well, in reaction to the verdict, the Ghana Police Service through a statement revealed that inasmuch as the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the protestors, they still have a restraining order to prevent the conveners from protesting on the streets.
In view of that, one of the main advocates for the #FixTheCountry campaign, Efia Odo has registered her frustration on the microblogging platform, Twitter explaining why the police insist they halt the protest.
According to her, she can still not fathom why the Ghana Police Service insists on preventing them from protesting on the street.
She further stated that the police are not being paid well by the government, thus their reason for taking bribe from big cars on the streets while on duty.
She wrote; The aggression to stop this demonstration is totally unnecessary. If the police were paid well some of them won’t be stopping big cars and asking for 20 cedis, I’ve witnessed it. They even take money from Uber drivers. What are you people so afraid of? We have a right to protest
