May 25 (UPI) — A Wisconsin zoo announced a “very docile” alligator that escaped from its enclosure was found safe after about two days on the loose.
Doc’s Zoo at Doc’s Harley Davidson in Bonduel, Shawano County, said in a Facebook post that Rex the alligator was found about 5 p.m. Monday in the “swampy wooded area on the Doc’s complex.”
The facility said Rex was noticed missing from his enclosure on Saturday. The zoo said Rex is “typically very docile” and has “severe arthritis in his jaws making it very difficult to open his mouth more than an inch.”
Rex was found by zoo owner Steve “Doc” Hopkins’ son and safely returned to his enclosure, the post said.
“What an adventure he must’ve had. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all that helped in our search efforts,” the Facebook post said.
