Rufftown Records signed artiste, Wendy Addo, well known as Wendy Shay has thrown more light on how people use the intellectual properties of others without permission.

Recall, Wendy Shay intended to take legal actions against the producers of a movie on Netflix titled ‘Slay’. This was after one of her songs was used in the movie without her knowledge.
In an Instagram post, Wendy Shay threatened to take action against the producers if the needful is not done.
She wrote; So, I watched this movie last night on Netflix and my song, ‘All for you’ was featured without my consent or that of my management. Producers of the movie ‘Slay’, it is a crime to use someone’s intellectual property without her consent. Kindly do the needful or i will see y’all in court.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM with Abeiku Santana on the Ekwansodwodwo show, Wendy Shay advised that it is always necessary to seek the permission of people before using their intellectual properties.
She said that it is appropriate to sort out the owner of the property even before using the piece for your works.
Wendy said that with a movie like ‘Slay’ which was uploaded on a bog platform like Netflix, definitely the producers will make huge sums of money from it so it is important to let the people who contributed to the movie have their share before using them or their craft.
