This comes after Ghanaians bashed his colleague, Kuami Eugene, and other musicians for sampling songs from other musicians. A section of Ghanaians believes that these musicians are untalented and unable to write their very own songs but rather a sample from other musicians’ hard work.

For example, Mr. Drew of Highly Spiritual was accused of sampling his “Eat” song from Rotimi’s “Love Riddim”.

During an interview with Berla Mundi, KiDi defended his label mate Kuami Eugene that it’s not a crime for him to be sampling songs and adding his own one or two verses to them as his own music project.

He also argued that sampling is more than just taking a section of an original song and putting it in your own groove.

Kidi also said that there are records of great musicians like Beyonce and Michael Jackson who have also sampled songs from other musicians before and so, it is no big deal if some Ghanaian musicians are doing the same for the betterment of their career.

A lot of musicians sample songs. Beyoncé and Michael Jackson also sample songs. Look at Kanye West, his album was sampled. It’s an integral part of any music, he said.

He further revealed that his latest single ‘ouch it’ which was released recently was sampled from Musical Youths Pass the Dutchie.
