This comes after the Ghana Police Service revealed that they have received an official request on an intended protest scheduled for May 9th, 2021 on the streets of the nation’s capital Accra by the conveners of the #FixTheCountry
movement.
The police in their response stated that it will intend to go to court to avoid the group from protesting since they won’t be able to enforce protestors to adhere with the country’s COVID-19 protocols and restrictions during the protest.
Efia Odo yesterday responded to the statement from the police service accusing them of trying to disorganize and shift the focus of the group. She quizzed why the police service allowed the politicians in this country to embark on their various campaigns during the last general elections but are trying to prevent a group of young men and women from protesting against bad leadership in this country.
In a new development, the actress and media personality has revealed that there was a scheduled meeting between the conveners of the movement and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh on his request at 9 a.m today but on their way to meet the IGP, they received a new directive that they should rather go and meet the Minister for National Security, Hon. Albeart Kan-Dapaah instead.
She quizzed whether the IGP will be present at the meeting or not, but as at now, the conveners of the movement are on their way to meet the minister and will keep Ghanaians updated.
First we were meeting the IGP alone at 9am, on his request. On our way, we are diverted to meet the Minister of National Security. Don’t know yet if IGP will also be in the meeting. Will keep updating you. #FixTheCountryGhana
