Edo Queens’ plan of winning the 2020/2021 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) got a big blow yesterday when the Benin girls lost 1-2 to Delta Queens in the opening game of the NWFL Super Six Championship holding in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
In the second game of the day at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Rivers Angels held FC Robo of Lagos to a 1-1 draw, the same result that ended the third game involving Bayelsa Queens and Sunshine Queens.
The competition continues tomorrow at the same venue. Apart from becoming Nigerian Women Premier League (NWPL) champions, the winner of the competition will qualify to represent the country in the novel Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women Champions League, which will debut this 2020/2021 season.
