Apedwa (E/R), April 21, GNA – The Krontihene of Akyem Apedwa, Nana Baffour Owurae Antwi Okokroko has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to reappoint Mr Kojo Ofori Safo as Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa South Municipality.
The appeal followed claims that people of the Municipality have appreciated the enormous developmental projects spearheaded by Mr Safo who was in office as MCE for two years.
The Krontihene was speaking with the media at Apedwa when some traditional elders together with residents were on a demonstration to press home for the reappointment of Mr Ofori Safo.
He said maintaining Mr Safo would guarantee the continuity of programmes, plans and projects that have been rolled out in the area towards improving the quality of living among inhabitants.
“The Krontihene and elders and the entire residents of Akyem Apedwa are calling on the President to maintain him [Ofori Safo] to continue the good work he started,” he said.
Mr Safo during his tenure as MCE was credited with undertaking numerous development projects in education like building schools, improving road infrastructure in several communities and building CHPS Compounds to enhance health service delivery.
Krontihene Okokroko explained that as traditional rulers, their motive was to support and promote development agenda that inure to the welfare of the people.
He expressed the hope that President Akufo-Addo would heed their plea and reappoint Mr Safo as MCE who, together with the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Mr Samuel Atta Akyea would be expected to work to implementing more development projects.
He also appealed to the government through the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Amoako Atta, to help complete the Apedwa town roads to facilitate economic activities.
Mbratehene of Akyem Apedwa, Baffour Agyenim Boateng, also pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to maintain Safo as MCE to ensure continuity of programmes and projects that had been started.
He described Safo as development-oriented and added that the man had worked hard and deserved to be reappointed to continue the good works.
Speaking in an interview with GNA, a resident, Maame Serwah, extolled the performance records of Safo as the best for the Municipality in recent times, and called on the appointing authority to reappointment him.
