Senate Confirms Abdulrasheed Bawa As New EFCC Boss
Abdulrasheed Bawa

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Abdulrasheed Bawa as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was confirmed after being grilled during Senate plenary on Wednesday.

Bawa, in addressing concerns of lawmakers, assured that he would bring his experience to bear having joined the agency in 2004.

During the plenary, he reacted to a lot of questions posed by Senators on his readiness for the job, given his age.

He said he will work with strategic partners around the world to see that Nigeria benefits from the repatriation of assets stolen from her coffers.

Bawa also stated that the anti-graft agency will achieve its independent objective by sharing information with its partners.

He also stated that there will be more transparency and accountability.

While acknowledging that the EFFC has issues with the management of assets, the EFCC boss said he will embark on the digitization of the offices for proper record keeping.

He further noted that the constitution will guide his actions as EFCC Chairman.
