Akufo-Addo lifts lockdown on Accra, Kumasi

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has lifted the 3-week lockdown on Greater Accra and Kumasi, with effect from Monday, April 20.

Addressing the Nation on Sunday, April 19, 2020, the President, however, stated all other social distancing measures are still in place. Churches, Schools both Public and Private, will still remain shut.

The President announced that the decision to lift the 3-week lockdown was as a result of the aggressive enhanced testing done by the Ghana Health Service.

So far over 86, 000 tests have been conducted with a backlog of over 18,000 results expected.

Out of the 68, 591 confirmed results 1,042 people have tested positive with COVID-19 with 99 people recovered and discharged while nine people have died.
