To the fans who recall her from the Nineties movie My Girl, child star Anna Chlumsky is now unrecognisable.

The 31-year-old actress hit the red carpet last night to promote her new HBO TV show Veep, looking all woman in a dazzling black dress and smoky eyes.

American star Anna looked worlds away from fresh-faced Vada Sultenfuss, who she played in the 1991 coming-of-age movie alongside MaCaulay Culkin.

All grown up: The 31-year-old actress is best known for her role in the 1991 movie My Girl

She reprised the role again three
years later in the sequel My Girl 2, which didn’t star Culkin – of
course his character came to a sticky end in the original film after
being attacked by an angry swarm of bees.

But nowadays, Anna is all grown up,
married, and set to step into the limelight again with her new comedy
Veep, in which she stars alongside Julia Louise-Dreyfus.

The pair attended a screening party tonight in New York  and posed together on the red carpet for photographers.

The series, which premieres on HBO on April 22 and in the UK on Sky Atlantic in June, is loosely based on BBC series The
Thick Of It.

It tells the story of Senator Selina Meyer’s run as Vice
President of the United States.

Louis-Dreyfus is playing the central
role of Vice President Selina Meyer while Chlumsky will play her Chief
of Staff, Amy Brookheimer.

Anna has kept her hand in acting over the years, with parts in Law & Order and White Collar to name a few.

She also managed to get a degree under her belt, graduating from the University of Chicago in 2002.

In 2007 she announced her engagement
to Shaun So, an Army reserve member who served in Afghanistan, before
the pair married the following year.

Around the time she explained:
‘Shaun’s family is Chinese, and my family is Catholic. So we’re going to
do a fusion of the two cultural traditions.’
