Former AC Milan and Eagles’ defender, Taribo West has told unsettled left wing back Taye Taiwo to jettison all thoughts being frustrated in Milan and fight for a shirt with the Italian giants.

Taiwo a regular with the national team, has found it difficult to break into the AC Milan first team, something which he took for granted in his former Club Olympic Marseille.

During the week he spoke of the pain of having to sit in the stands and watch his teammates play football. He has been linked with a move away from Italy as Newcastle and Werde Bremen of Germany are said to be interested in signing the defender in the January window. Taiwo said he would be forced to look elsewhere if the situation did not change.

“I don’t understand how things work over here in Italy. Sometimes I’m left in the stands whereas I really need to play,” Taiwo cried out during the week.

But Taribo who stayed in Italy from 1997-2000, playing for both Inter Milan and AC Milan stated that Taiwo should stay in Milan and fight for a shirt.

“It is more of adaptation problem. It is not easy for a player to move to another country and establish himself.

“Going to Italy was not a bad move it was right for Taiwo to have joined Milan. He should hang in there and keep working hard they will surely give him a starting shirt. I’ve tried to talk to him to help him calm his anxiety, but haven’t got hold of him yet,” said Taribo.
